Just Curious...
At what point should I consider the doors being closed? Is there a window open that I am just not seeing?

Two Things
It's late and I should be sleeping. The problem is that I think of things to write when I shouldn't be writing. It is around mile 5 that I think of good blogs, or when I have my hands full of dough or when I am driving down the road. It isn't until my bedtime when I actually get to writing. Or past my bedtime. And for those that know me well, my prime time is not at bed time and I usually can't think of anything that is worth writing down.
Tonight at the Andrew Peterson concert, I realized two things.
1. I am, hands down, one of those people that reads everything on a CD sleeve. I love music and and have to make myself not buy more. I forget that not everyone is like that, and apparently Andrew Peterson's wife is not like me. This explains a lot of things from my childhood. My brother Luke would never understand why I would spend our entire ride in the car just reading the inside covers and lyrics in his CD case. He just didn't understand the joy or satisfaction that I got out of it. But Andrew Peterson does, and that makes me relieved.
2. "Storms are a reminder that we are not as great as we think we are." -Andrew Peterson
When he was telling a story about storms and tornados, the statement leapt out at me and I captured it. So many times I think I am invincible and it isn't until I am in a situation that is out of my control and I am left vulnerable, that I realize how small I am and how immense and powerful God is.

Homemade Hot Dogs

Who would've thought? Rather than paying about $5.00/can at the Village Market, why not make your own?
I know this sounds ridiculous to the average person (And I'm not claiming to be above average!), but I think it is fair to say that I have a bit more time on my hands (and less $$) than the average person.
Timothy George is the one who introduced me to making my own hot dogs. He calls them "Snakes". Trust me, they are safer than their namesake AND in case you were worried, they contain no animal products. So far I have had several variations: Itailian Sausage, Spanish, and other weird hot dog hybrids.
I am working on decreasing the density of my hot dogs. A few recipes ago, it was hard to eat more than one hot dog; and I found myself with a bloated belly. Not cool.
This week I put tofu and chicken TVP in with my usual ingredients. We shall see how they turn out! If they are crumbly, I will use them as veggie-meat crumbles. If they are chewy and dense, I will slice them up and put them in recipes. If they are just right, they shall be deemed safe to eat as hot dogs.

Oklahoma Pride
There are certain things that make me smile.
The first being that Dr. Haluska's name comes up every Sabbath in conversation. He is a legend at Southern, and without fail, the Haluska survivors unite and share stories.
Another thing that makes me smile is how enthusiastic my family gets about Oklahoma. It has come to my realization that this really overwhelms people. My apologies. We boast about our corn and our mountains, our friendliness and our heritage, our sunsets and landscape. But don't mind us, we have a hard time containing ourselves. We are just advocates of a grand state.
Take a look here. You just might want to come visit.
Once again, during supper my family got on our soap box. Stephen Thorp, the recipient of myth busting rampage, is an advocate of his homeland too: British Columbia. I have never been there, but it looks pretty good too. It doesn't look anything like Oklahoma, but I won't hold it against Stephen or BC.
