I don't always like it when my patient's ask me how old I am, especially when I am younger than their youngest granddaughter.
If they know that I am not much older than 21, then how long could I have been a nurse!?
When I open my metal locker, I feel like a high schooler again. I even have the same magnet alphabet letters on my locker at work. Then... I pull out my stethoscope. Time for work.
Being the baby at work has its perks. They (sometimes) go easy on me (most of the time) and I have the liberty to ask stupid questions (never such a thing!). The unit secretary insists that I am too young to even be deemed the "baby". So.. she likes to tell people that I am the fetus. Their Precious Little Emily Fetus. Or their Sweet Little Emily. But I don't tell that to my patients. They think that I am at least 23 or 24. :)
