My stomach could hardly handle the anticipation as I pressed a little harder on the gas pedal. Was I really going to surprise them? I had never succeeded with surprising my family before, so this was going to be big. Really big and GOOD.
I pulled up in the driveway and Luke was coming out of the asparagus barn. He cocked his head and stared with his jaw dropped and when he saw that it was really me, started waving his arms and hollering. Then my mom poked her head out of the barn, even when she saw my car she didn't think it was really me. I got 'em real good.
Since I will be spending this Thanksgiving at the hospital, I couldn't bear the thought of not making use of my long weekend the week before Thanksgiving.
I went with Luke to the OK food co-op, have cooked lots of food, cleaned, corralled the twins (if that is even possible?).
And then this morning, around 4:20 am, my dad came and woke Luke and I up. (It is nice having nurses in the house, I guess?) "Mom is throwing up- never seen her so sick before..."
I'm praying that no one else gets sick...
It is good to be home.
